I recently listened to an inspiring podcast with Thankyou Group founder Dan Flynn.
Six years ago as a 19 year old university student, Dan was appalled to read that 900 million people had no access to safe water. He was equally angered by the idiocy of bottled water in a country like Australia where we have safe drinking water. Spurred into action, he decided to launch his own bottle water company in an already over-crowded market.
Thankyou is a social enterprise that was founded in 2008. From day one, the vision was to empower the everyday Australian to change the world through a simple choice within their everyday life, in selling Thankyou Water, a bottled water product that would generate funds to implement safe water solutions in developing nations.
In July 2013, the business welcomed two new product lines to the family with the arrival of Thankyou Food & Thankyou Body Care. These new ranges have enabled Thankyou to extend its impact to fund not only safe water solutions, but also health & hygiene practices & food security projects to assist people in need.
To date, Thankyou has assisted 73,340 people with safe water through projects in Cambodia, Kenya, Uganda, Sri Lanka, India, Haiti, Timor Leste, Burundi & Myanmar. On top of that, Thankyou has provided 67,227 people with health & hygiene training through projects in India & Myanmar. It has also raised enough funds to provide 6,865 people with access to short-term food aid & long-term food security in both Cambodia & Kenya. Thankyou has since given a total of over $1 million dollars to projects throughout their five year journey.
So, how can your workplace potentially support Thankyou? Why not stock Thankyou products in your onsite cafeteria or vending machines or for your corporate events?
