Boldly going… Introducing conflict management training to Starship Children’s Hospital (2023)

This new collaboration between Children's Hospital in NZ and UK Mediation Foundation focuses on conflict between health professionals and whānau (families) in paediatric hospitals, and is based on training staff to recognise and manage conflict as early as possible and use mediation skills to improve patient/whānau outcomes and staff wellbeing.

Respect & Resilience Program

Designed in conjunction with icare and Griffith University, the free Respect & Resilience Program supports employers and workers to minimise the impact of customer misbehaviour. The program teaches front line workers to identify the signs of misbehaviour early and provides the skills to prevent someone escalating to those higher levels.

Rio Tinto releases external review of workplace culture

Rio Tinto published a comprehensive external review of its workplace culture, commissioned as part of its commitment to ensure sustained cultural change across its global operations. The review carried out by former Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner Elizabeth Broderick, identified disturbing findings of bullying, sexual harassment, racism and other forms of discrimination. The review is part of the work being undertaken by Rio Tinto’s Everyday Respect task force launched in 2021 to better understand, prevent and respond to harmful behaviours in the workplace.
