The burden of working time lost to compensable occupational injury and disease in Australia, 2012ā€“17: a retrospective populationā€based study (2024)

This research reveals Australia loses 41,194 work years annually due to work-related injury, disease and mental health conditions, equating to more than 41,000 lost jobs. The study introduces a new metric, Working Years Lost (WYL) which highlights the severe burden on older workers and the disproportionate effect of mental health conditions.
